last year i was told i was low in my vitamin d levels and given a scrip for it for a short time, last week my child tested low. We have a good diet and are outside as much as possible, but i have found out that other meds (like mine for a shoulder injury) can effect the levels of everything! double check these possibilities for yourself. This article is top rate, simple and to the point, easy to understand, THANK YOU!!!!! for my child, and myself, "mom"

I give both my children 400IU of vitamin D every day -- what the AAP recommends. Four cups of milk is too much for my 3-year old. I know this amount is safe. It's really hard to tell if they get enough from the sun and to maximize vitamin D they should be out between 10 and 3pm. Because studies are showing that 7 out of 10 children have lower than optimal levels, I think it's smart to supplement. I work in a hosptial and they are finding that 90% of babies start of life low in vitamin D! Many moms with low levels end up having babies with low levels.
