Hi LeAnne

The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends no delay in introduction of any of these foods. They state “there is no evidence for delaying introduction of any foods beyond this period [4-6 months], including those considered highly allergenic (e.g., fish, eggs, foods containing peanut protein)”

Having said that, it is always a good idea to exercise caution and introduce these foods one at a time and in small amounts. Watch for any adverse reaction and stop if there are any.

See this article for more details

http://www.littlestomaks.com/2010/07/preventing...

Our pediatrician recommended waiting until the twins were 2 to introduce tree nuts. How should we start that introduction? They've had no allergies or sensitivities to date. Is there any benefit to waiting longer to introduce them?

Our son has had food allergies since he was just a few months old. He developed severe eczema and we switched him to soy milk formula. This did not help either though and he continued to struggle with foods and eczema for the first several years of his life. No one could help him and we tried so many doctors, creams and meds. When he became steroid dependent at 2 years of age, we knew we needed to do something to help him from the inside - not just covering up his symptoms with potent drugs. We were told about Belly Boost children's chewable probiotics and they have truly changed our life! He began to get better and better within just the first few weeks and has been nearly clear of all eczema for over a year now and he can eat more foods that he was intolerant to. He continues to take these and loves them too! I hope our story helps others with this.
